72% Malbec, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 4% Syrah, 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Deep crimson. Deep and intense. Dense with ripe black and red fruits surrounded by sweet oak spice and herbs. The palate is equally dense and mouth-filling, though there is a surprising amount of refreshment. The 2018 Grand Vin hails from Vista Flores, Uco Valley and was aged for 12 months in French barrels. The nose offers ripe fruit with hints of jam framed by the oak. This wine has a monolithic palate lit up by the alcohol. It鈥檚 indulgent with reactive tannins and has a dry feel. Drinking range: 2023 - 2032 Rating: 89 Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous.com (Nov 2021)
Cuvelier los Andes
The Cuvelier family were selling wines to the good folk of Northern France in the early years on the nineteenth Century. In 1903, with the purchase of the St Est猫phe estate of Ch芒teau le Crock, they moved into ch芒teau ownership, crowning their move in 1920 by buying Ch芒teau Leoville Poyferr茅. In the 1990s the family spread their wings all the way to Mendoza, initially working with Michel Rolland on his Clos de la Siete project. But, in 1999, they started to plant their own vineyards - Cuvelier los Andes - and began producing wine in 2003. Michel Rolland dutifully oversees winemaking, and spare grapes are still sold off to Clos de la Siete.
