Lovely balance of ripeness here. Dark berries again. Darker feel to the fruit - all just really nicely ripe. Pitch-perfect. Concentrated and the grip is deliciously mouth-watering. Fine powdery feel - gorgeous with a restraining mineral dustiness. Dark and smouldering with a gob or too of sweetness. There is lots going on here, its deep and densely layered for now. It will be a great treat to revisit this in about 10 years time. L&S (Nov 2019)

Once again the nose is strikingly floral though with plenty of sauvage character suffusing the fresh mix of red and dark currant, earth and forest floor. The racy, intense and appealingly delineated larger-scaled flavors possess focused power on the balanced, clean and beautifully long finish. This is a big but harmonious effort that should age gracefully for many years. Drinking range: 2035 - Rating: 92-94 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2020)

Cask sample. Some mineral quality on the nose. Lots to chew on. Very embryonic and with everything in the right place. Racy and promising with real depth. Drinking range: 2030 - 2050 Rating: 18 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2020)

The 2018 Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a complex bouquet of pure brambly black fruit, crushed stone, undergrowth and subtle hints of cassis and violet that emerge with time. This is quite mercurial in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, wonderfully pitched acidity and a sense of harmony and precision that renders this perhaps the more graceful of the Mazoyères-Chambertins that Perrot-Minot has produced. Stunning Drinking range: 2024 - 2050 Rating: 96-98 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2020)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
