Very fine nose; absolutely fabulous lifted, weightless yet voluminous palate. It's got power, but it's all in gentleness and caress; ghostly. Love it. L&S (Oct 2018)

(from a .60 ha parcel). An equally ripe nose speaks of cassis, black raspberry, spiced tea and similar floral whiffs. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is classy and sophisticated thanks to the super-fine-grained tannins shaping the lacy, lilting and strikingly long finish. This is excellent and very much worth your interest. Drinking range: 2030 - Rating: 93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2020)

Bottled. Bright, fairly pale crimson. This smells much more appetising than many of the Rossignol wines just tasted. Though it’s certainly less obviously ripe, dramatic and sweet. All in the right place and still a little raw. Drinking range: 2026 - 2040 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2020)

Invariably a highlight of the portfolio, Boillot's 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets derives from a low-yielding 60-are parcel of 55-year-old vines. Unfurling in the glass with a deep bouquet of wild berries, plums, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its concentrated core of vibrant fruit underlined by succulent acids and framed by chalky tannins. This is a brilliant wine that's worth a special effort to seek out. Drinking range: 2025 - 2050 Rating: 94 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2020)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
