Amazingly defined bonbon fruit - raspberry 'Love Hearts'! Vivid and juicy and sweet with silky tannins. This very ripe but it can take it - lovely elegance and purity. L&S (Oct 2019)

The 2018 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru has a smudged nose that is missing the precision and delineation of other vintages. There's a bit of heat evident here. Cough candy scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, muscular and brawny, yet paradoxically there is an absence of grip on the finish. Perhaps time will endow it with greater nuance and personality? There is a ripasso like element on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting. Drinking range: 2024 - 2035 Rating: 85 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Nov 2022)

(from 25+ year old vines). An even prettier and more complex nose shyly offer up its notes of essence of black raspberry, cherry and spiced plum. The succulent yet racy flavors possess a seductive texture and relatively sophisticated mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the balanced and linear finish that also reflects a touch of youthful austerity. Lovely. 91/2026+ Drinking range: 2026 - Rating: 91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2020)

The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, rose petals, cassis and violets. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with an ample chassis of powdery tannins, fine concentration and succulent acids. From a parcel of 58-year-old vines, this is a quintessentially elegant Volnay that should also drink well young. Drinking range: 2025 - 2045 Rating: 92 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2020)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
