The family have owned their plot her since 1968. This is mostly barrel fermented - but no new oak at all and they are experimenting with an egg once again after positive results in 2019. Pretty nose, citrus spray and white flowers. Bright and tang-fuelled attack. Some lime and some lemon builds to a broader richer middle. Not fat, this is Chablis of course, but an open and intense feel. Some good detail though and chalky dusty notes build on the back end. Good power and drive leads to the nice broad palate. Quite serious. L&S (Nov 2020)

This marries the rich and expansive side of the 2019 vintage with the cool and stony soul of Chablis. The slug of oak is well integrated in the ample structure. Bold and long finish. Vinified in 500-liter barrels, but no new oak. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Rating: 94 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Jul 2021)

The 2019 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru, matured in used 500-liter barrels, has a perfumed bouquet of Granny Smith apples, sliced pear, crushed rock and light dewy pasture aromas. The palate is well balanced with more weight than the Bougros, fine acidity and a light flintiness coming toward the pure finish. Excellent. Drinking range: 2022 - 2036 Rating: 93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Dec 2020)

Dense but with good acidity. Very polite wine. Nothing showy. Nothing dramatic but it opened out impressively on the finish. Drinking range: 2025 - 2037 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Dec 2020)

Domaine Drouhin Vaudon

The Beaune-based merchant Joseph Drouhin has restyled its Chablis Domaine 'Domaine Drouhin-Vaudon' to emphasise its ties with and holdings in (38 hectares) the Chablis vineyard. The Moulin de Vaudon, an 18th Century watermill straddling the Serein River, close to the Grand Cru vineyards of Chablis, is the headquarters and the source of the name. It is the largest estate in Chablis entirely farmed biodynamically.
