There is a lovely depth of nicely ripe fruit here - dark cherries, 'just' baked plums and really lovely spice. With cinnamon and a whiff of cooked cream this Zinfandel from Pertersen is a really appetising and mouth-watering interperpretation of this variety, with a great lift of bright freshness to the long charming finish. Keeping it light on its feet for such a broad an deep wine. Never too much, this works really well - from lovely vineyards in Sonoma County - the gently cooler side of Napa, in every sense.
