Wow. Huge impact of class and depth. This 'opener' from the Brajkovich family is intense and impressive. Good savoury middle with notes of hard cheese at play with quite firm apple bite. Quite tight. Great balance and length but the charm and the easy feel will need more time to come out. This is serious stuff, impressive and should be in a great place once it lands in the Autumn. L&S (Aug 2020)

This light-bodied, fresh style offers Chardonnay lovers the perfect midweek wine with textural panache. Kumeu's West Auckland vineyards contribute 75% of the fruit for this blend, and the remainder comes from the Dartmoor Valley in Hawke's Bay. The ripe, orchard fruit characters are typical of Hawke's Bay while the more savory bass notes are more classically Kumeu. Partial fermentation in old barrels, full malolactic and time on lees combine to bring an extra layer of interest and tactility. From the pioneering days to the establishment of the New Zealand wine industry to today, the Brajkovich family have been internationally recognised as producing world class wine. The Brajkovich family continue to harvest their grapes at Kumeu and refine their wine making skills.
The Brajkovichs are nationally recognised as a founding family of the New Zealand wine industry, and the current generation are internationally recognised as producing world class Chardonnay.
Just as the Brajkovich family has grown, so too has the winery itself. Extensions and additions mark the milestones that have seen business adapt and expand over the years. Today, the winery produces around 250,000 bottles annually from 30 hectares of its own vineyards in Kumeu, and another 10 hectares from local growers.
