(Cask Sample) This is deeply enticing on the nose. Intense and weighty perfume jumps from the glass. On the palate you're bowled over by fabulous power and fine line of real energy at its heart. Buzzing citrus feel runs throughout. Eats up the oak - no sign of it here. Really alive and fresh with great cut and vim. Totally delicious.
30-40% New Oak Light Toast. Worked it since 1947. They have 2 HA. Just above Chevalier and next to Les Demoiselles. Some currently out of production. Go everyday for a week and take it slow harvesting here. A real mix of clones and rootstocks.

Thank you to the Drouhins for their generosity in pouring Montrachet and Musigny at this event. Quite clearly this was the wine with the greatest intensity on the evening. It is still such a baby! At the moment it is the fruit weight and intensity which show, not the detail. It has the makings of a fine example. Tasted: March 2022 Rating: **** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy  (May 2022)

So ripe, but also deep and delicate, this is a masterpiece of creamy sensuality, the considerable power and concentration underplayed, with the result that it has noble elegance. Yes, there is a hint of exotic fruit in the nose, but also minty freshness. The finish is very long and intense, but so finely nuanced. Drink or hold. Rating: 99 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Jul 2021)

(from a 2.06 ha parcel on the Puligny side). An overtly floral yet restrained nose reflects additional notes of lemon zest, white peach and apple compote. There is outstanding volume to the concentrated and powerful large-scaled flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the citrus-tinged acidity shaping the hugely long finish. The Drouhin Montrachet is usually a wine of finesse and understatement though in 2019 it is more muscular and imposing and altogether impressive. Drinking range: 2031 - Rating: 94-97 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jun 2021)

Joseph Drouhin

Despite the size of their vineyard holding, not all Drouhin's wines come from their own domaine, but most of the other wines do come from long-term contracts, such as exists with the Marquis de Laguiche wines. In all but name these wines are 'Domaine' wines, and the vineyards are cared for and the wines vinified with exactly the same care.
