Vineyard Clos Richemont

New to the domaine this year, part of the vines they bought from the old Domaine Darnat. Clos Richemont is in Les Cras, a very calcareous soil high up in the north of the appellation, right on the border of Volnay, which Guillaume says makes a very Puligny style. As he remarks this is another monopole Clos for the domaine, and fun to have one in Meursault as well as the Clos de la Mouchère in Puligny. It's sapid and juicy - and he's right, quite a Puligny style - very mineral. Lovely purity and length. Drinking range: 2023 - 2030 L&S (Oct 2020)

(a monopole measuring .62 ha that is actually part of Les Cras). Here the equally complex nose flirts with exoticism with its intensely floral aromas of both white and yellow peach and apricot. The intense and slightly bigger-bodied flavors possess excellent volume and evident power while flashing a really lovely texture, all wrapped in a hugely long and stony finale. This isn’t as refined as the Genevrières but there is even better depth. Drinking range: 2031 - Rating: 93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jun 2021)

The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Clos Richemont is the first rendition of a newly acquired monopole chez Boillot, and it has turned out nicely, bursting with notes of pear, beeswax, nutmeg, woodsmoke and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, ample and lively, it can't match the concentration of the house's Perrières or Gouttes d'Or, but it's very charming in its more open-knit style. Drinking range: 2022 - 2042 Rating: 92 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

The first Boillot vintage of Clos Richemont, with planting from the 1970s on a very white limestone soil: sternly mineral, almost Puligny in style, suggests Guillaume. Lighter pale primrose, a very light toastiness on the nose. Striking energy at the back, a little bit of salinity, real energy too and very good length. Quite different from the other 1er crus, but offering the usual Boillot clarity and precision. A brilliant finish. Tasted: October 2020 **** Rating: 92-95 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy  (Dec 2020)

Domaine Henri Boillot

A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.

The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
