Grapes Pinot Noir

Origin Germany, Rheinhessen
ABV 13%

This really is one of those wines that beggars belief when you taste it and then see the price. Brilliant Pinot Noir, fragrant with a smoky intensity, dark cherry, strawberry and forest floor notes. The palate has good weight of fruit, deep rooted, a touch of sinew, fresh acid lift and a lovely tang of fruitiness on the lip-smacking finish. L&S (Jul 2023)

*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles of wine (or 9 litre equivalent) or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits, Sweet Wine or Fortified (4.5 litres) to get the discounted 'case price' for each bottle.

Pale garnet. A little raw on the nose but decent delivery of Pinot fruit for the price. Not totally unlike a Chilean Pinot though the Chilean may well be more expensive! 13% Drinking range: 2022 - 2024 Rating: 15.5 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Oct 2023)

Weingut Braunewell

François Breiniville fled 17th Century France's Huguenot persecution to settle in Essenheim, just south west of Mainz.
It took until the 1960's for Adam Braunewell to start bottling the wines from his family's vineyards and, today, he helps his children and grandchildren run this excellent estate and tend their flagship vineyards of Blume and Teufelspfad (the Devil's path!)
