100% Grenache, 70-80 year old vineyards, planted by Gilles' grandfather in 1947. A big bright nose of raspberry fruits, violets and redcurrant too, sweet fruits with nice soft tannins and balanced acidity, a little spice too, very sweet and flowing, concentrated and pure, all in concrete, very smart. Only 3000 bts produced, incredible value for money L&S (Aug 2022)

Already bottled, the 2020 Cairanne La Boutine is a beautiful Grenache loaded with ripe black raspberry and candied strawberry fruits as well as notes of leather and Provençal spice. Coming from older vines near winemaker Gilles Ferran’s grandparents’ house, it has solid tannins and good length on the finish, all pointing to a solid 5-7 years of longevity. Domaine des Escaravailles

Domaines des Escaravailles was established in 1953 by Jean-Louis Ferran and his two sons, Daniel and Jean-Pierre, in the village of Rasteau.

Today it is run by the third generation of the family, Gilles, the son of Daniel. With vineyards on not only the clay, limestone hillsides of Rasteau, but also in Cairanne, Roaix, Villedieu and St Roman de Malegarde. The estate is run organically and everything is done by hand with the wines made in the cellars in the heart of the property in Rasteau.

The estate takes it's name from the Occitan word for the Scarab Beetle, which you will also find adorning the labels of the wines.
