The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a floral bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the red fruit, but there is quite a lot of reduction, and it seems to "bed in" with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, fresh and tensile. This is a more linear/citrus style of Clos de Vougeot. Afford this 3-4 years in bottle to rid itself of the reductive elements. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Drinking range: 2028 - 2045 Rating: 92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Oct 2024)

There is actually an underlying elegance to this wine, quite sensual. A softer finish, partly a question of oak choice – a smooth vanilla without hard tannins. Drink from 2028-2036. Tasted: September 2024. Drinking range: 2028 - 2036 Rating: *** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Oct 2024)
(from a ~.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis). A touch of menthol sits atop the aromas of mostly dark berries, earth and a hint of anise character. The attractively textured if not especially dense flavors possess both good energy and unusually good refinement while the youthfully austere finale displays fine length. This could use better depth, but more should develop with a few years of bottle age. Drinking range: 2030 - Rating: 93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2022)
When the Boillots’ previous source started to bottle his own wines in 2015, it was necessary to switch to another source which seems to be equally good. Rich deep purple black. This is certainly ripe, perhaps even a gamey quality. Freshens up in the glass. Huge fruit weight here, dark notes but actually a core of pure red fruit beneath. Strong but fine tannins, this is going to be quite impressive. Tasted: 10/1/2021 Rating: 93-95 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Dec 2021)
Domaine Henri Boillot
A domaine which dates to 1885, but which began properly in the early years of the 20th century under the current Henri's grandfather (also Henri). His son, Jean, was the one who really developed it. Henri arrived in 1975 and worked his way up, becoming the winemaker. In 2000 he began the building of the new winery at the bottom of Meursault, and he then bought out his brother and sister to keep the domaine as one, renaming it from 'Domaine Jean Boillot' to 'Domaine Henri Boillot' to avoid confusion with his brother Jean-Marc's domaine.
The Domaine totals around 14 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white, and of which just under 4ha is the Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère, a walled enclave within the premier Cru Puligny Perrières. The 2017 vintage saw the arrival of two new parcels of Grand Cru red, in Échezeaux and Latricières Chambertin
