Brilliant ruby. Vibrant raspberry, cherry and floral scents are complemented by garrigue and cracked pepper suggestions. Juicy, palate-coating red and blue fruit and candied lavender flavors show very good clarity and smoothly blend depth and energy. Displays firm cut and strong persistence on a long, floral- and spice-accented finish that's framed by smooth, slowly building tannins. Raised in a 65/35 combination of used oak foudres and concrete tanks. Drinking range: 2025 - 2034 Rating: 91-93 Josh Raynolds, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2023)
Tasted at L&S Rhône Tasting - 20/09/2022
This is excellent. Ripe, quite potent, with great freshness, length and fine tannins. This will age well. Thierry Faravel's vineyards are up high among the limestone peaks of the Dentelles de Montmirail at around 350m. The altitude helps retain aromatic freshness, and the northwest-facing orientation further contributes to its vivacity. Drinking range: 2023 - 2035 Rating: 95 Matt Walls, Decanter.com (Sept 2022)
Domaine la Bouïssière
Thierry and Gilles Faravel's Domaine la Bouïssière in Gigondas is exceptional in many ways, apart from the personality of Thierry himself, it is the site of the vineyard, high up under the 'Dentelles de Montmirail' which makes the defining difference.
In contrast to the vines being baked on the plains of stones at the foot of the hill, the Bouïssière vines benefit from cooling air at night falling from the high peaks, and the wines retain a freshness and subtle persistence which is very different to the sometimes bludgeoning broadness and alcoholic heat of the wines on the plain.
Gilles and Thierry Faravel employ non-interventionalist practices to make wines as naturally as possible, resulting in wines of immense concentration and depth, with true vibrancy and the capacity to age for ten to fifteen years.
