Vineyard Ray's Road

From the best, most limestone-influenced bits of this vineyard that used to be owned by Trinity Hill in a joint venture with Pascal Jolivet, so was originally planted mainly with Sauvignon Blanc which is now being replaced with Pinot Noir. Mainly the local MV6 and Abel clones. Aged 12 months in oak (10–15% new). Interesting herbal elements on the nose and some sweetness on the palate. Some mushroom notes already as this has evolved a bit. Like the Village Pinot there's a slightly hard end. But also pure fruit. This is a more interesting, complex Pinot than earlier vintages. Clean, pure finish. Drinking range: 2023 - 2027 Rating: 16+ Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Sept 2023)

*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles of wine (or 9 litre equivalent) or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits, Sweet Wine or Fortified (4.5 litres) to get the discounted 'case price' for each bottle.

If you're looking for a smoky, distinctively savory Pinot Noir, look no further than the 2020 Rays Road. It's all smoked game and wild herbs with a bit of grunt. It's a mid-weight style with the impression of up and at 'em punch on the finish. And yet, it displays a serious chalky texture, likely related to its limestone origins, that draws it out. This has real character and potential and can be enjoyed now with game or duck or it has the stuffing to develop over 5-8 years. Drinking range: 2023 - 2029 Rating: 89 Rebecca Gibb MW - Vinous.com (Apr 2023)

After malolactic fermentation this wine was matured for 12 months in French Oak (10% new). The resulting wine is bright, fragrant with ripe cherry and other red-fruit aromas. There is also a distinctive dry leaf quality which contributes to the complexity. The palate is supple, deceptively concentrated with a distinctive limestone edge. It is approachable now, and we have no doubt that this complex wine will enhance further with bottle age.Winemaker's notes (Apr 2023)

Kumeu River

From the pioneering days to the establishment of the New Zealand wine industry to today, the Brajkovich family have been internationally recognised as producing world class wine. The Brajkovich family continue to harvest their grapes at Kumeu and refine their wine making skills.

The Brajkovichs are nationally recognised as a founding family of the New Zealand wine industry, and the current generation are internationally recognised as producing world class Chardonnay.

Just as the Brajkovich family has grown, so too has the winery itself. Extensions and additions mark the milestones that have seen business adapt and expand over the years. Today, the winery produces around 250,000 bottles annually from 30 hectares of its own vineyards in Kumeu, and another 10 hectares from local growers.
