LUGANA

2020 Felugan La Feliciana

Grapes Turbiana
Colour White
Origin Italy, Veneto
Other Practising Organic
Sub-district Lugana
ABV 13%

A very inviting nose of firm pear fruit and yellow plum with verbena notes. On the palate this is bright with lively lemon cut and spicy, softer yellow flesh. Delightfully perky but with texture too, the palate shows nice firmness to the fruit, a comfortable weight and good depth. There is a reassuring, firm line of minerality underpinning everything, adding such focus and its backed by lovely juicy acidity. A summer in the garden wine you will keep coming back to! Although a mystery for a long time - we now know that this grape variety - Turbiana - is the same as Verdicchio - but the expression here is very distinct. L&S (Mar 2021)

I have always been a Lugana fan but am guilty of being a one-trick-pony because I always, perhaps lazily, go for the wines of Cà dei Frati. It is not often that you find a wine brand that is found everywhere, excellent quality, and affordable! But La Feliciana has changed the paradigm. This sensational wine is not just affordable; it is a steal. Bristling with energetic acidity and blushingly beautiful pear and green apple fruit, this is a complete and utter revelation, and it will perform both elite aperitif duties and all starters requirements, too, such is its depth of flavour.Matthew Jukes, Moneyweek (Oct 2021)

La Feliciana

La Feliciana is a small winery south of Lake Garda, in the Commune of Pozzolengo, and remarkably peaceful, with gentle rolling hills and vineyards stretching off into the distance; the only thing that would make you wonder if it has always been this way is the massive stone tower built on a low hill a couple of miles away: It's the monument to the Battle of San Martino, fought by the Piemontese against half of the Austrian army while their French allies were fighting the other half at Solferino, a few miles away.
