ORVIETO

2020 Classico Superiore Castello di Titignano

Grapes Sauv Blanc, Grechetto, Trebbiano, Verdelho
Colour White
Origin Italy, Umbria
Classification Classico Superiore

This gorgeous Orvieto spends about 4-5 months on the lees. is a blend of 4 grapes - Trebbiano Toscano, Grechetto, Verdelho and Sauvignon Blanc - each adding extra depth, fruit and texture - but perfectly melded in to a gorgeous, pithy wine - fresh but with good weight. This is a wonderful aperativo with some nibbles or a perfect lunchtime white that will bring Italian summer straight to mind. 2020 is our third vintage of this jolly white. All the great character but delivered with more lift and ping. Bravo! L&S (Oct 2021)

Castello di Titignano

The structures of the Salviano estate and the Titignano Castle were built in the Middle Ages by the Montmarte family. In the early 1800s, the entire property, covering over 2000 hectares, was purchased by the Corsini family. The estate that historically has its decision-making center in Salviano, under the guidance of the Corsini family became a thriving company specializing in the production of wheat, tobacco, olive oil and wine. As evidenced by sources of the time, at the beginning of the 20th century Salviano's white wine was already widely known, in Italy and around the world, for its quality.

In the second half of the 1900s, the Marquise Nerina Corsini inherited the Salviano and Titignano estates from her father. After her marriage with the Marquis Enrico Incisa della Rocchetta, former producer of the famous Sassicaia, a project to modernize the estate was started. Since 2015 the estate has been managed by his son, Marquis Giovanni Incisa della Rocchetta and his wife Marchesa Tara, who with renewed energy and resources have created infrastructures and re-founded the corporate culture. The Salviano estate is now the center of wine production and the Titignano Castle with its Borgo is an important farmhouse and an extraordinary location in the heart of Italy.
