(primarily chardonnay with a small amount of pinot blanc). There is a vague whiff of the exotic present on the essence of pear, passion fruit and discreet floral wisps. The middle weight flavors are finer though not as concentrated while displaying good if not special length on the bitter lemon bone-dry finale. A mix of chardonnay and pinot blanc, grown on a light white marl soil, and vinified in older wood. Still in barrel, unracked. The apple flavours are starting to be a bit bruised, so this may just need a sulphur adjustment. The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Clos de Village Blanc comes from a genuine clos and contains around 25% Pinot Blanc. It has a bright bouquet with yellow fruit, hints of candle wax coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a saline finish. The lack of the word 'domaine' in the name signals that this is a négociant wine from Thibault Liger-Belair. On the whole Thibault buys grapes having tended the vines with his own team, so that the wines are domaine wines in all but name.
