Wonderfully rich and powerful Grüner. Incredible white pepper notes lead the charge, texturally weighted with pear and quince fruits adding super depth. A rich crisp line of acidity underpins the fulsome palate, giving balance and poise, to the long finish. L&S (Feb 2023)

LOCATION: The RIED GOLDBERG comes from south-facing terraced locations above the old town of Stein. The particularly low yields of these over 60-year-old vines, as well as the barren, stony soil characterize this particularly spicy, pronounced mineral Grüner Veltliner.
WINE DESCRIPTION: Pale yellow-green. In the fragrance nuances of honeydew melon, delicate herbal spice, orange zest and some tobacco. Full-bodied, powerful and piquant on the palate, fine white tropical fruit, mineral and tightly woven structure, extract sweetness on a classy finish.
VINIFICATION: Harvest 4th week of October, whole cluster pressing, maceration 3 h, separation of must from must and pressed must, natural sedimentation by gravity 36h; Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at approx. 18 - 20 C for 9 weeks; aging on the fine lees until the end of May; Filling end of June 2022.Winemaker's notes (Nov 2022)

Salomon Undhof

Founded in 1792 SALOMON UNDHOF is a wine estate with a long tradition. The Salomon family from the Wachau produces white wines from the best terraced "Urgestein" sites along the Danube River in Stein and Krems. Today Bert and Gertrud Salomon run the winery. The famous Riesling of the estate thrives on the topsites of Kögl and Pfaffenberg. The Grüner Veltliner Von Stein comes from the steep terrassed hills behind the old town of Stein. The best "loess" soils provide the Lindberg and Wachtberg Grüner Veltliner. All the grapes are harvested traditionally by hand only. Their great vineyard locations and meticulous work in the vineyards are prerequisites for their elegant wines. Wines with finesse and perfect mineral balance reflect the very special micro climate of this lovely river valley. The Estate’s Grüner Veltliner and Riesling distinguish themselves through elegance and consistency.
