The 2022 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots comes from three different appellations via nine parcels and 20% whole clusters. A little rustic on the nose: brambly red fruit, forest floor and light scents of morels. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, the stems imparting a subtle black pepper note on the delicate finish. Lovely. Bourgogne blended from vineyards below Nuits and Chambolle, plus Hautes C么tes de Nuits. 20% whole bunch vinification. A light reduction which makes the nose a touch stinky. Plenty of structure, acid and tannin, with a wealth of savoury red fruit behind. The lack of the word 'domaine' in the name signals that this is a n茅gociant wine from Thibault Liger-Belair. On the whole Thibault buys grapes having tended the vines with his own team, so that the wines are domaine wines in all but name.
