Les Quartiers is hugely limited. It comes from the pure limestone soils at the top of the estate. The resulting Cabernet Franc fruit has a power and a purity that is unmatched from their other vineyards. L&S (Apr 2025)

Its young, ripe style reflects the warm, sunny, dry season. This is almost Mediterranean in its ripeness, but its freshness and chalkiness bring you back to the Loire, providing fine line and length. From a limestone-rich terroir, this saw an élevage in large barrels lasting two years, and it was bottled just eight weeks before my tasting. Dark, spicy and evocative on the nose, with layers of tar, rose petal, dark chocolate and black pepper. This precedes a quite glorious palate, with liquid black cherry, plum and olive, wrapped in grippy and ripe tannins which wrap themselves around the midpalate and finish, and then linger long at the end. Beautiful density and perfume here, this is quite superb. One to put away for ten or fifteen years, and to enjoy in your dotage. Rating: 94 Chris Kissack, www.thewinedoctor.com (Feb 2025)
Domaine Yannick Amirault
Yannick Amirault took over three and a half hectares of vines from his grandfather 30 years ago, and today with his son Benoit works 12 hectares in Bourgeuil and 7 in St-Nicholas-de-Bourgeuil. The vineyards have been worked organically for 15 years and have been certified Organic since 2009. The family are seriously talented in the cellar and not shy of trying new things - the new Malgagnes cuvée which ages in their special Jarres are testament to this. Everything is hand harvested and hard work in the vineyards means only the very best fruit is brought in. Only natural yeasts are used, with fermentations being allowed as long as they need. These wines are crisp and bright with a dramatic purity - made as naturally as possible but without having any unsatisfactory 'natural' traits. Incredible quality here across the range.
