The 2022 Guado al Tasso is laced with hints of plum, espresso, nutmeg, licorice, incense, lavender and dried herbs. Medium in body, with fine persistence and tons of class, Guado al Tasso has a lot to offer. There is a bit of tightness that is a reminder of the challenges of the growing season. A burst of dark fruit, exotic spice and sweet spice punctuates the finale. This is a terrific wine for the year. The blend is 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot. Late-season September rains were especially penalizing for Cabernet Sauvignon, hence the greater presence of Cabernet Franc and Merlot in the blend. The Antinori family has been making wine for over six hundred years, since Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. Throughout their long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always personally managed the business making innovative, sometimes courageous choices, always with unwavering respect for tradition and the land. They are also considered producers of 'Super Tuscan' wines. Today Marchese Piero Antinori is director of the company, assisted by his three daughters, Albiera, Allegra and Alessia. Tenuta Tignanello, with its famous Tignanello and Solaia vineyards, is situated between the Greve and Pesa valleys in the heart of Chianti Classico exactly between the little villages of Monteridolfi and Santa Maria a Macerata, 30km south of Florence.
