2022 Heritage 1924 100% Grenache from a vineyard high up in the hills planted in 1924 More concentrated than all the cuvée, lovely soft spice, very long and pure. Tannins are well balanced… a real gem of a wine L&S (Oct 2023)

Like the 2021, the 2022 Rasteau Héritage 1924 is all Grenache from the oldest vines on the estate. Aged 9 months in concrete tank, its deeper ruby hue is followed by a rocking perfumed of red and blue fruits, peppery herbs, incense, violets, and subtle spice nuances. With medium-bodied richness, a round, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish, it should shine for a solid 8-10 years if well stored. Domaine des Escaravailles
Domaines des Escaravailles was established in 1953 by Jean-Louis Ferran and his two sons, Daniel and Jean-Pierre, in the village of Rasteau.
Today it is run by the third generation of the family, Gilles, the son of Daniel. With vineyards on not only the clay, limestone hillsides of Rasteau, but also in Cairanne, Roaix, Villedieu and St Roman de Malegarde. The estate is run organically and everything is done by hand with the wines made in the cellars in the heart of the property in Rasteau.
The estate takes it's name from the Occitan word for the Scarab Beetle, which you will also find adorning the labels of the wines.
