A precise, classic vintage showing depth of fruit, but with beautiful austerity and minerals. Mostly red fruit, with touches of dark cherries and currants. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine-etched tannins and lots of brightness. So long and refined in the finish, showing restraint. 51% cabernet sauvignon, 46.5% merlot and 2.5% cabernet franc. 56.3 CS 29.2 M 14.5 CF 12.9% Plenty of violet perfume with some dried herbs and spice hints. Blue fruit underneath. Very juicy extract and concentrated due to the limited yields, 26hl/ha, and four sortings manual - densimetric - optical, and another manual. This has a silky texture although it lacks the absolute depth of usual vintages, but it is a fine and fruity expression with no harsh or green edges at all. The 2024 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion is soft, open-knit and juicy, all qualities that will make it a fine choice for drinking on release. Unusually, Cabernet Sauvignon takes the lead in 2024. It's a style that works quite well. Macerated cherry, plum, spice, new leather and tobacco all build nicely in the glass.
