Laroque reveals itself discreetly, like an artist taking the stage to familiarize themselves with the space! It nonetheless emits precise, beautifully defined signals, evoking nuances of ripe, but not overripe, fruit. At the same time, it skillfully highlights the freshness of its clay-limestone terroir, which fosters not only chalky nuances and flinty notes, but also floral accents. Velvety and ample on the attack, the wine displays more serenity than on the nose. It has grown bolder and no longer hesitates to reveal its vigorous yet subtle nature. The tannins make their presence known around the mid-palate. However, it is on the finish that they reach their full potential, where they have the greatest impact, where they create an infallible foundation, supported by an incisive acidity that acts as a tonic. Laroque has not chosen the easy path, but the path of relevance. One must know how to claim greatness when one finds oneself in such a context, or rather, in spheres of excellence. Over the years, the wines of Château Laroque have gained in confidence and depth, and they have certainly reached a level that allows them to fully express their ambitions. A magnificent success that benefits from the convergence of long-term work, an exceptional terroir, and finally, a vintage that, while unusual, was nonetheless very successful, judging by the result! Above all, Laroque is truly great! Rating: 96-98 Yves Beck, www.yvesbeck.wine (Apr 2026)

Another great success and value pick for Laroque. Really aromatically complex. Ripe and pristine black bramble berries on the nose, perfumed and nicely fragrant. Lovely aromatic purity. Smooth and so silky, smooth, svelte as Laroque does so well. Mouthwatering with bright acidity but so juicy – strawberry and cherry with a hint of cranberry and soft accents of dried herbs liquorice and wet stones. Grippy but so charming even at this point. Tension with freshness, perfectly polished and friendly. A yield of 31hl/ha with varying yields depending on the terroir from 25-45hl/ha. 3.40pH. Drinking range: 2030 - 2048 Rating: 96 Georgie Hindle - Decanter (Apr 2026)
Saint-Émilion; 99% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc; a final yield of 31 hl/ha; pH 3.40; 13.8% ABV; tasted with David Suire at the property). The old vine Merlot from the 1950s was crucial to the capacity to manage the stress of the vintage – and one can see that immediately in the clarity and limpidity of the wine in the glass. Staggering purity, staggering lift, staggering energy and staggering precision. The Merlot here is almost rather floral and in this vintage, where the best Merlot has some Cabernet character, one might be mistaken into imagining that there is rather more Cabernet in the blend. The impression of harmony is amazing and total. Laroque is utterly gorgeous aromatically and, if anything, even more so on the palate in 2025. The transformation of what has been produced here – and with it the reputation of the wine – over the last decade is extraordinary. This is another vintage everyone will be talking about. I am struck by the gain in viscosity and volume in the mouth in comparison to even the greatest vintages of the past here, due to almost perfect integration of the ulta-fine grained tannins. We're clearly in 'best ever' territory and that's saying something. 96-98+ Colin Hay Rating: 96-98+ The Drinks Business (May 2026)
Lovely floral aromatics on the nose. Very scented - delicate. Great pure energetic kick from the off. Polished middle - with good density and lovely concentration of red fruit.. such good, juicy bounce. Raspberry and tart strawberry, with the note of juice from firm plums. Superb. Pep and great weight, smart stuff. Really good equilibrium. Clearly the fruit of a hot year, you feel that in the concentration - but this remains cool and balanced with joyous density and lift.
