Bordeaux and Britain share a deep history, functioning as partners in wine ever since Eleanor of Aquitaine married Henry II in 1152. While the region can sometimes seem dense and intimidating due to its bureaucracy and shifting classifications, the true focus should always remain strictly on what is inside the bottle.
This 12-bottle collection serves as a masterclass in modern Claret, leaning on some of the most prestigious names in the region to demystify its diverse styles.
Our team tastes through hundreds of bottles annually to ensure only the exceptional make it to your cellar. This case offers a friendly, accessible tour of the main grape varieties, exploring everything from a crisp white to deep, mature reds across both the Left Bank and the Right Bank.
The Wines Included in the Mixed Case:
4x 2024 CHATEAU BEAUMONT Blanc Les Pierrieres, Blaye: This is a remarkably clever Sauvignon Blanc. Harvested in August, the white grapes are uniquely fermented in brand-new oak barrels originally destined for red wines. This process creates a dense texture with ripe citrus and tropical aromas, all supported by a gentle oak spice.
2x 2020 LE PESSAC-LEOGNAN du Domaine de Chevalier: Crafted by Olivier Bernard, this wine undergoes painstaking triple sorting, which includes berry-by-berry optical sorting to guarantee absolute purity. It is an incredibly elegant blend of Cabernet and Merlot. You can expect a medium-bodied profile with fine-grained tannins, earthy minerality, and a gently smoky finish.
2x 2019 LES CHENES DE MACQUIN, Saint Emilion: This is the terrific second wine of the Premier Grand Cru Classe estate Pavie Macquin. It is a juicy, vibrant Merlot with a creamy and racy character. The palate pushes forward beautiful notes of rose petal, lavender, and mint.
2x 2019 CHATEAU L ARGENTEYRE Cru Bourgeois, Medoc: A deeply coloured, succulent Left Bank red hand-crafted by the Reich brothers. It delivers rich fruit, vigour, and fine spice.
2x 2020 L ETOILE, Lalande de Pomerol: A savvy alternative to Pomerol from the Right Bank. It is fresh, forward, and soft, loaded with notes of cherries, chocolate-coated plums, and wet earth.
