12 Year Old Isle of Mull Gordon & MacPhail
|Origin||Scotland, Malt Whisky|
|Village||Isle of Mull|
Aroma Peat smoke opens to reveal notes of maple cured meat, toffee, and baked apples. Seaside grasses aromas linger and finish in a gentle briny edge. Taste Stewed fruits, sultanas, and currants with milk chocolate flavours combine with crème brûlée. Sweet toffee is complemented by bursts of citrus and a smouldering bonfire ember edge. Finish Lingering oak slowly fades to reveal soft hints of citrus. Winemaker's notes (Nov 2018)

Gordon & MacPhail
James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail founded their grocery business in 1895 and the company shop is still there on South Street, Elgin as it has been for over 120 years. John Urquhart joined the business in 1915 and today his family still own and run the company. Outside of Elgin, of course, Gordon & Macphail is known as a whisky merchant, buying up young whiskies, ageing them and bottling them under the Gordon & Macpahil label. In 1998, they finally entered the distilling business proper with the purchase of the Benromach Distillery.
