Colour Red
Origin France, Burgundy
District Côte d'Or
Sub-district Côte de Nuits
Village Gevrey Chambertin
Classification Grand Cru
Vineyard Mazis Chambertin

Blueberry and black cherry fruit with a note of chocolate and licorice. Concentrated, deep and superbly flavorful with a lot more structure than the Charmes yet without the same intensity. Still, it should live longer and it will also require more cellar time to fully open. Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, (Jun 2012)

*Case Price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

Produced from 55 to 60-year-old vines, the dark-colored 1999 Mazis-Chambertin is profound. Its licorice, black cherry syrup, and chocolate chip cookie dough-scented nose leads to a hugely powerful, medium to full-bodied character. This road tar, blackberry, cassis liqueur, and spice-flavored wine has the density, structure, and balance for moderate to long-term aging. Projected maturity: 2006-2015+. Rating: 94-95 Pierre Rovani, The Wine Advocate (Aug 2001)

Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.
