Vineyard Lavaut Saint Jacques

Really mineral. Extremely sophisticated gliding and lifted. Straight-backed and verging on austere, but with charm and great length. L&S (Jan 2012)

*Case price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.

There is a red fruited fragrance on the nose but the start of the palate is richer with quite firm black cherry. The mid palate is full of ripe flavours the tannins are rounded giving suppleness. The fruit lasts well on the finish. 2015-22 Rating: 92 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk(Dec 2013)

The Lavaut St Jacques has a very pure, more rounded bouquet than the Suchots (I personally would have anticipated it to be the other way round at this stage.) The palate is medium-bodied with an aloof entry. It is masculine with firm backbone, copious dark berries laced with bell pepper that leads to a vibrant mineral-rich finish. This will need time in bottle. Rating: 91-93 Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com(Jul 2012)

Rating: 17.5 Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com(Jan 2012)

Very mild reduction does not completely hide the otherwise pretty and notably cool red berry, floral and stone-inflected aromas that complement well the minerally, detailed, supple and impressively intense medium-bodied flavors that possess an obvious touch of the sauvage on the herbal, focused and strikingly long finish that is, at present anyway, overtly austere. This is a classic Lavaut with an abundance of underlying tension and very firm supporting tannins. Ample patience will be required. 2025+ Rating: 91 - 93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com(Jan 2012)

Neat nose without anything out of place. Sweet start. Just a tad muted but should deliver pleasure. 2015-2022 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com(Jan 2012)

Very pure and lifted. This is airy and harmonious. It is really quite refined. Light and delicate. It pirouettes across the palate shimmering with minerality. Lovely long finish. Natural harmony and finesse. Fine to very fine. From 2016 Rating: 18.5 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing(Nov 2011)

Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot

Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
