On deep clay. Supple and sweet, but not just ripe cassis - there's more to it, Round, taut, pure. Big and powerful too, but in a very mineral, floating, directed, straight way. L&S (Nov 2011)

A pretty and relatively high-toned nose of pure, cool and well-layered stone, red berries and a hint of underbrush where the latter can also be found on the mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess real verve on the tension-filled, dry and serious finish. As it always is, this is a firm wine of refinement and purity, indeed this displays Zen-like poise. 2022+ Rating: 90 - 93 Allen Meadows, (Jan 2012)

Tighter and straighter. This is well defined. Quite strict at the moment. Taut tannins. Tense and deep and stony on the finish. Lots of verve. Nicely edged and long finish. I like the finish. From 2016/7 Rating: 18 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Nov 2011)

Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot

Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
