The Gevrey-Chambertin has fine, kirsch-tinged bouquet with fine lift and precision. The palate is well balanced with very “natural” red brambly fruit and a touch of undergrowth on the crisp, slightly stalky finish. Very fine and very natural. Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, (Jul 2012)

Rating: 17.5 Matthew Jukes (Jan 2012)

(the majority of this comes from Champs-Chenys, which is situated next to Charmes and it tends to be more elegant than most Gevrey villages wines). This is a curious nose as it’s reduced yet offers up the impression of freshness. There is a subtle stoniness to the supple, round and attractively textured middle weight flavors that possess fine energy and good if not truly special depth on the quite firm and mildly austere finish. 2018+ Rating: 87 - 90 Allen Meadows, (Jan 2012)

Cherry red. Solid stuff with quite enough ripeness. Quite bitter on the finish but there is sweet and sour energy. Very honest attempt. 2015-2020 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - (Jan 2012)

Spicy and lifted aroma. It smells energetic. It pounces on the palate and races lightly, but purposefully. Fine texture and crushed red fruit. Fine and tight tannins with some minerality on the finish. An elegant Gevrey-Chamberin. Very good indeed. From 2015 Rating: 16.25 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Nov 2011)

Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot

Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
