Slow to start, then ripe pears. Not quite as distinctive as usual(?), but builds well on the palate, developing more and more depth. There is a roar of definition on the finish. L&S (Jan 2013)

The 2011 Beaune Clos des Mouches impresses for its intensity. Green pears, exotic flowers, mint, citrus and crushed rocks are all very much alive in the glass. The flavors are beautifully defined in a salivating, crystalline wine full of personality. Clos des Mouches remains one of the undiscovered jewels of Burgundy in its price range. The 2011 is likely to enjoy broad drinking window that will last several decades. Rating: 92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2013)

Reticent nose hints at red berries. Tight, dry and backward, opening grudgingly in the glass to show notes of pear, stone, mace and anise. Shows an exotic aspect but a strong mineral underpinning keeps it light on its feet. Finishes dry and long. As always, an ageworthy wine with a distinctive personality. Rating: 91 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Sep 2013)

Rating: 17.5+ Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (Jan 2013)

Fine boned and lively. Lots of citrus notes and a hit of minerals - well balanced. Racy and lovely already. Quite open. Easy and not tense. 2014-2020 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2013)

Rating: 93 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Dec 2012)

This is broad and buttery and nutty on the nose. Juicy, full middle showing richness and generousity. Touched with oak on the palate. It is a fuller style, ripe and balanced with very good acidity. The finish is nutty and long. Good persistence. More Corton than Puligny in style. Fine+. From 2015/16. Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Nov 2012)
