Rich nose of ripe black fruit. Very suave and full again. Not as linear as the '1er Cru', more ample, a seemingly hotter corner? Rich with eau de vie and cassis, in a very compact silky weave. The same urgent fruit in the tannins on the finish. The fine, lightly sandy soil gives this 'feminine' style, says Bernard. L&S (Jan 2013)

The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle impresses for its feminine, gracious personality. Here the fruit is a bit more red-tone, whole floral notes are quite prominent, even though Dugat used fewer whole clusters here (35-40%) than he did in many of his other wines. Silky tannins support the persistent, nuanced finish. This is Gevrey with a Chambolle accent. Drinking range: 2016 - 2031 Rating: 90-92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Mar 2014)

(from 50+ year old vines vinified with 40% stems). The classic elegance of a fine Petite Chapelle is on display here with its pure, high-toned and wonderfully lacy nose of dark cherry, cassis and spiced plum. There is an abundance of minerality infusing the concentrated, phenolically mature and driving finish that is quite firm without being aggressive yet impeccably well balanced. Lovely juice and textbook Petite Chapelle. 2021+ Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2013)

40-50% whole bunch, 100% new oak. Very dark crimson. A little severe and medium intensity of fruit. Chewy and firm. Middling in terms of fruit versus tannins. No really strong message. Needs time. 2022-2030 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2013)

Domaine Dugat-Py

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.
