Dark rch fruit. Densely tannic, but a lovely feral richness and ripeness. Wine for rabbit stew! L&S (Jan 2013)

Bright cherry red. Piercing clean red fruit flavours with a bit of sweetness on the end before a bit of astringency. Quite satisfying. Unscathed by bitter/nutty notes. 2016-2024 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - 2013)

(from 80+ year old vines in Bas de Combes). Not unexpectedly, this is notably earthier yet the proximity of Bas de Combes to Vosne is visible as the nose does not lack for spice notes on the very fresh and pure wild red berry aromas. There is fine precision and verve to the well-concentrated middle weight flavors that are supported by relatively fine tannins as there is only a trace of rusticity on the dusty and mouth coating finish. Lovely. 2019+ Rating: 88-91 Allen Meadows, 2013)

Rating: 91 Tim Atkin MW, 2012)

Au bas de combe. Herbal, minty notes. Black pastille fruit on the front of the palate. Lighter body than the Vosne. Plenty of tannins, but supple tannins. Ripe, ‘jam’ fruit on the finish and a little earthier. The finish is fresh and straight. Some good energy here. Good+. From 2016 Rating: 15.5 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing(Nov 2012)

Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot

Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
