(from a .30 ha parcel). An elegant and relatively expressive nose displays a lovely mélange comprised of Asian tea, spice, plum, violet and cool but ripe red currant. There is a lovely vibrancy present on the mineral-inflected and intense middle weight flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced and seductively textured finale. This will need a few years of bottle age but it is less firmly structured than several of these 1ers and thus will be approachable somewhat earlier. 2021+ Rating: 90-92 Allen Meadows, (Jan 2015)

Healthy deep red. Riper and sweeter on the nose than the Craipillot but with terrific spicy lift to the aromas of red berries, blood orange and smoky minerality. Creamy on entry, then quite closed and backward in the middle palate, showing serious energy but limited early pliancy to the raspberry and mineral flavors. Finishes with firm tannic spine and excellent length. Drinking range: 2023 - 2033 Rating: 90-93 Stephen Tanzer, (Jan 2015)

More clay here than in Craipillots. It is more upright on the aroma than the Craipillots; red fruits and white pepper. Very elegant onto the palate; streams vividly and with vitality. Straight, taut core. Firm, but smooth tannin. He has pushed the extraction and it works, for there is delicious ripe fruit wrapped around the tannins. This is much more complex than the Craipillots. A fine, firm finish. From 2022 Rating: 18.5 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Nov 2014)

Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot

Vignerons since the seventeenth century, the Confuron family even have a strain of Pinot Noir named after them - Pinot Confuron. The domaine has several Grands Crus vineyards as well as the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Suchots, making it one of the very top domaines of the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron follows his family tradition of whole-bunch fermentation, giving an extra scent on the nose due to the stems of the grapes remaining intact, and picking very late. One of the strengths of Confuron Cotetidot wines is their ability to age and develop, due to the low yields and old vines that are used, causing them to be more approachable in the medium to long term.
