This always used to be labelled 1er Cru Beauroy - but in this vintage the Pommiers have opted to be even more specific as to the exact location of their vines within the Beauroy vineyard. Troësmes is the top zone here with a very high proportion of Marne Blanc soil as opposed to the Marne Bleu which dominates the rest of the vineyards. L&S (Jul 2016)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest annual tasting, the 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Troesmes by Domaine Isabelle et Denis Pommier, bottled under DIAM 10, offers straightforward lemon peel and chalk-like scents that would benefit from more vigor. The palate is pretty on the entry with peachy, orange zest notes immediately seducing the senses. Perhaps it lacks the tension and race of the example I tasted before, although I can see how this will give plenty of drinking pleasure in the short rather than long term. Drinking range: 2017 - 2025 Rating: 90 Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com (Nov 2017)
(this used to be labeled as Beauroy). Noticeable wood frames the otherwise fresh and pure aromas of white and yellow orchard fruit and tidal pool that precedes the lush and opulent but punchy medium-bodied flavors that possess a textured finale thanks to the copious amount of sappy dry extract. This is certainly very rich but it doesn’t lack for verve and this is a 2014 1er that will both age yet drink well young. 2020+ Rating: 91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2017)

Sweet start and silky texture. Really sleek and fun with great class. Still a bit of chew but should be fine for the long term. Drinking range: 2018 - 2028 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2016)
Domaine Denis Pommier
This estate has come a long way since the Pommiers inherited 2 hectares of vines in 1990. They bottled their first wine in 1994 and now produce fabulous wines from their 16 hectares of vineyards. Denis and Isabelle Pommier have built up quite a following amongst sommeliers 'in the know' in recent years, and certainly the Petit Chablis is a brilliant wine to serve by the glass. It is a model of brisk freshness - made entirely in stainless steel - while the Premier Crus benefit from a small amount of barrel-fermentation and élevage.
