CÔTE DE NUITS VILLAGES
2014 Joseph Drouhin
|Sub-district||Côte de Nuits|
This wine certainly stood out at the wide-ranging Drouhin tasting. Some definite class and spice. A bit of oak showing, but the finesse and succulence is there and this floats - there's some good mineral soil somewhere in its origin. It turns out that it is around 60% Fixin. A bit of a bargain. Drinking range: 2018 - L&S (Nov 2015)
*Case Price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin
Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880 and still family owned, are one of the most well respected names in Burgundy, especially through their flagship wine, the iconic Clos des Mouches.
Mostly from Fixin. 16 months in oak. Mid crimson. Dark-red fruit, finely fragrant and just a hint of peppery spice. Deeply fruited and lightly spiced on the palate. Elegant, juicy and fine-boned if not particularly sustained on the finish. Drinking range: 2016 - 2019 Rating: 15.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2016)
