(from vines ranging in age from 50 to 105 years old; the crop level here was just 23 hectoliters per hectare, according to Dugat): Deep ruby-red. Very dark aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, licorice, bitter chocolate, violet and crushed rock. A step up in intensity and sweetness from the Evocelles, communicating a juicy quality to its black cherry and bitter chocolate flavors. Has the stuffing and size to support its substantial ripe tannins. Just a touch of finishing dryness to be absorbed. Rating: 89-92 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2016)

50- to 105-year-old vines high on the slope. 70% whole bunch, two-thirds new oak. Very ripe grapes. Lots of concentrated, almost brûlée, blackcurrant fruit. Almost vulgar it’s so chock-full of flavour! Very eye-catching. Drinking range: 2018 - 2026 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2016)

(from vines of 50 to 100+ years of age situated in Epointures, Combe du Dessus, Jouise, and Les Marchais; aged in 65% new wood and vinified with 70% of the stems). The sheer density of fruit is impressive with a broad-ranging nose of black fruit, spice, violets and pungent earth. The density of the fruit is confirmed on the palate as there is equally impressive concentration to the intense and muscular flavor that coat the palate with dry extract that also buffers the very firm tannic spine on the mineral-driven and built-to-age finish. Drinking range: - 2026 Rating: 90-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2016)
