TONGUE IN GROOVE
|Origin||New Zealand, South Island|
Very arresting labels! Looks very dense. Really full and chock-full of flavour. The odd German might argue this is not refined enough but it's certainly attention grabbing and brilliantly distinctive in an NZ context. Off dry. Herbal stew. Tastes sponti, biodynamic and very long. A good place to be! Though I wonder why it hasn't already sold? Aggressively different. Drinking range: 2017 - 2019 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Oct 2017)
*Case Price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified to get the 'case price' for each bottle.
Tongue in Groove
Six friends, five of them Roseworthy graduates (although the winemaker, Lynette Hudson, is a graduate of Lincoln) were prompted to form this 'perfect fit' team by the Canterbury earthquake and the realisation that they had to get on with doing something themselves as well as working for others. All well-connected in the NZ wine scene, they are able to source outstanding fruit and clearly have the expertise to turn this into outstanding wines. Check out their website at http://tongueingroove.co.nz/about/. Their first releases have already caused quite a stir - but are very limited in quantity.
