The 2017 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Terre de Vertus 1er Cru is creamy, open-knit and quite seductive. Readers will find a generous, sensual Champagne with plenty of early appeal. Vinification and aging in oak softens the contours. Dried pear, crushed flowers, mint and chamomile build beautifully over time. This is a fine effort in a very challenging year. No dosage. Disgorged: May 2023. Drinking range: 2024 - 2032 Rating: 93 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2025)

The 2017 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Terre de Vertus, which derives from two east-facing plots within the same lieu-dit in Les Barillers, located mid-slope, imparts a very mineral, almost crystalline character. A vineyard that rarely produces powerful wines, even in the context of 2017, it has retained its personality, though it’s a little more generous and slightly less focused than the 2016 rendition. Unfurling from the glass with aromas of lemon peel, honeysuckle and oyster shell, it is medium-bodied, racy and saline-tinged and can be approached before the last year’s release. It was disgorged in May 2023. Drinking range: 2024 - 2034 Rating: 93 Kristaps Karlklins, The Wine Advocate (Dec 2024)

Champagne Larmandier-Bernier

Pierre and Sophie Larmandier and their sons Arthur and now Georges too (joined September 2021) are determined to make wines as true as possible to their origins in their different vineyards. These are split into around fifty separate parcels spread across the Côte des Blancs in the grand cru villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize, and the premier cru of Vertus.

All but three of the parcels (representing 0.5 hectares) are farmed using non-officially certified biodynamic methods. Wines are made only from their own 15 hectares of vines, which are on average 33 years old. All of their Champagnes are the purest expressions of Chardonnay.

Working only with natural yeasts the influence of 'terroir' is all important to the style of his wines, so much so that he uses a minimum 'dosage' (if at all) so as not to mask the wines natural characteristics.

Pierre has recently changed the 'Tradition' cuvée, re-launching it as 'Latitude', and it is now also a Blanc de Blancs, with its origins in the vineyards south of Vertus. The old 'Blanc de Blancs cuvée, which is known henceforth as 'Longitude', comes exclusively from vineyards on the Cote de Blancs itself and is classified Premier Cru'.

The Pinot Noir is now reserved exclusively for Pierre's distinctive dark rosé and for the Vertus Rouge Coteaux Champenois.

Awarded the Robert Parker Green emblem in July 2021.

2025 Christmas - SINGLE VINEYARD CHAMPAGNE MIXED SIX

Champagne has a bit of a secret. For centuries, the big houses have built their reputations on blending, mixing grapes from hundreds of villages to create a uniform taste. It’s clever, but sometimes you want a wine with a bit more personality.
We’re championing the 'Burgundian Revolution' of the region: Single Vineyard Champagne.
These are wines that speak of one specific patch of earth, a Lieu-Dit. They aren't designed to taste the same year after year; they’re designed to be a snapshot of a specific place and time. We’ve curated a case of these rare soloists for a truly memorable Christmas.
You’ll discover the M&G Heucq 'Le Clos des Goulots', a pure Pinot Meunier from a tiny plot tucked under a forest in Fleury-la-Rivière that offers a "cool and dry expression" you just can't replicate in a blend. Then there’s the monumental Larmandier-Bernier 'Vieille Vigne du Levant', a Grand Cru Cramant that is rich and smoky and utterly complete.
We’ve also included two distinct expressions from Nicolas Maillart: the 'Les Jolivettes' Grand Cru and the 'Montchenot' Premier Cru, both showcasing how different terroirs shape the Pinot Noir grape. Rounding off the collection is the Franck Bonville 'Les Belles Voyes', a layered and creamy Blanc de Blancs from the oldest vines in Oger.
If you want a fizz that sparks a conversation rather than just popping a cork, this is the case for you.
