On the nose there is a really attractive note of cassis essence here, which follows to the palate with a regal feeling. Richly ripe and a supple breadth - but with a fine-grained texture and gentle grip that just holds this ample and rich weight of deep, red fruit. Impressive tension keeps it alive and with great ping. Yes. The power and velvety push is very enchanting. Drinking range: 2019 - 2030 L&S (Nov 2018)

The 2017 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a fulsome, seductive bouquet of maraschino cherries, crushed strawberry, orange blossom and light tangerine aromas. The palate is almost pixelated on the entry and shows wonderful acidity and mineralité . Tensile from beginning to end, culminating in a vivid, almost sorbet-fresh finish. This is a superb Mazis. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. Drinking range: 2025 - 2055 Rating: 95 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2022)
Dense full purple, a little bit of barrel toast, medium density, some length, a pleasing ripeness to the fruit without going too far. Perhaps it could be a little fresher at the finish, but that will doubtless resolve with time. Tasted: September 2021 Rating: 94 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Sept 2021)
This beautiful red evokes violet, raspberry, strawberry and kirsch aromas and flavors. Tightens up on the palate, showing more oak as this winds down on the finish. All the components are here, just needs time to come together. Terrific length. Best from 2023 through 2045. Drinking range: 2023 - 2045 Rating: 96 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator (Feb 2020)
