Vineyard Grésigny

Planted in 1950 - lots of limestone here - this is a seriously smart spot. Crisp cut here but fruit core is intense. Yellow ripe flesh and melon skin - then some lime intensity and a broad sleeker feel builds graciously. This is impressive. Great weight and breadth - some cream but a touch of dusty minerality adds good texture and a freshness. This was not a straightforward vintage in Rully yet this wine is cleverly judged - really good balance and tension. L&S (Nov 2018)

The 2017 Rully 1er Cru Grésigny is showing well, offering up pretty aromas of wheat toast, crisp green apple, wet stones and citrus zest, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and tangy palate that's built around the bright line of acidity that typically defines wines from this high-quality climat. Tightly wound today, this will be better with a few years' bottle age. Drinking range: 2020 - 2030 Rating: 90+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Aug 2019)

It's never labelled as such, but this comes from a limestone-rich parcel planted in 1950. It has a stony, almost mouthwatering salinity supporting a palate that's spicy and toasty, with pear and waxed lemon fruit and a long, nuanced finish. Drinking range: 2019 - 2022 Rating: 92 Tim Atkin MW - Decanter (Oct 2018)

P & M Jacqueson

The domaine was founded in 1946 by Henri Jacqueson and passed to his son Paul. Marie joined her father in 2006 and since 2015 she and her brother Pierre run the estate, now known simply as P&M Jacqueson. The domaine consists of 18 hectares of vines, mostly in Rully, but also 5 in Mercurey and some in Bouzeron. The team also tend vines owned by their neighbours and make some beautiful wines from other peoples' fruit that they themselves have worked all year.

Traditional methods meticulously applied inspire everything they do: the grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in classical fashion, before an élevage in barrel (up to 25% new wood for the reds, just 20% for the 1er Cru Whites). The domaine has become adept at a sophisticated use of barrels, the élevage here is key to the quality they consistently achieve.
