The 2018 Feytit-Clinet is exquisite. Inky dark fruit, gravel, spice, menthol, licorice, mint and lavender are some of the many aromas and flavors that develop as the 2018 shows off its compelling, totally unique personality. In most recent vintages, Feytit-Clinet has been explosive and quite powerful. The 2018 doesn't quite have that energy, but its (relatively) suave personality will make it easy to enjoy with only a few years in bottle. I loved it. The 2018 Feytit-Clinet is a limpid purple hue. The bouquet is backward compared to other Pomerols that I tasted, biding its time and gradually opening to reveal black cherries, blueberry, melted tar and licorice scents all vying for attention. The palate is very smooth on the entry, with a fine bead of acidity. Sweet black fruit and licorice beg for your attention and dovetail into a saline finish. This is a very classy Feytit-Clinet from proprietor Jeremy Chasseuil. Drinking range: 2023 - 2045 Rating: 93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Mar 2021)

Blackcurrants, blackberries and some spices with dark-chocolate and chili undertones. Full-bodied, flavorful and sharp with a firm tannin structure. Succulent finish with good length. Salty and white-pepper undertones. Serious young Pomerol. Try after 2024. Rating: 95 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Feb 2021)

From one of my favorite estates in Pomerol, situated between Trotanoy and Latour à Pomerol, the 2018 Château Feytit-Clinet is currently sitting at 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc being raised in 70% new French oak. Sporting a deep purple/blue color as well as a massive bouquet of blackberries, smoked herbs, liquid violets, and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a weightless, seamless texture, thrilling purity, and a great, great finish. It’s a powerful wine hitting 14.9% alcohol yet there’s not a trace of heat. Offering beautiful purity and flawless balance, it reminds me of the 2010, only better. Château Feytit Clinet

Jérémy Chasseuil took this property in hand in 2000, and the wines have got better with every passing vintage, truly showing the potential of this tiny 6.5 hectare property, set right in the heart of Pomerol (close to Clinet, Trotanoy and Latour à Pomerol). It's on gravelly-sandy and clay soils and planted with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, with vines that average over 30 years old. Despite the name, and the statement "mis en bouteille au chateau" on the label, there is no château, just a small well-equipped chai.
The grapes are hand-picked before fermentation in concrete and steel vats, where they spend four or five weeks before the wine is run off for the malolactic fermentation in barrel. The wine is aged for around 18 months is up to 80% new oak barrels.
