(Cask Sample) Oh Yes! This is a joy. Soft easy feel but immediate impact and power. Intense citrus notes and lovely chalky scrape underpinning it. A whiff of coconut cream and lovely firm pineapple crunch. Broad and yet direct and full of pep. Really delicious and really makes an impression. Power of Corton and elegance of Puligny - a great combo.
Picked in 6 different sessions through the vineyard over 4-5 days. 7HA of vineyard with some very different sectors. And they make sure they get each piece at the perfect moment.

Exuberant and joyful, this white Beaune is brimming with pineapple, pear, honeysuckle and vanilla. Ripe and concentrated, but not a jot too big. Stunning mineral acidity that turns the finish into a firework display of fruit and terroir colors. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Rating: 96 James Suckling, (Jul 2021)

Moderate reduction overshadows the fruit today though there is fine concentration to the surprisingly powerful flavors that don’t possess quite the same finesse though they are even more persistent. This generously proportioned effort has sufficient mid-palate fat to be enjoyable young while offering very good mid-term cellaring potential. Drinking range: 2026 - Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, (Jun 2021)

Mingling aromas of citrus zest and pear with hints of white flowers, buttered toast and almonds, Drouhin's 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc (Domaine) is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with lively acids and a gourmand profile, concluding with a saline finish. Rating: 92-94 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

Domaine Joseph Drouhin

Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880 and still family owned, are one of the most well-respected names in Burgundy, especially through their flagship wine, the iconic Clos des Mouches.

A huge part of the Drouhin production comes from their own domaine fruit (78 hectares), and much of the rest comes from contracts such as that with the Marquis de Laguiche, who shook hands with the grandfather of the current generation, agreeing to let him manage his vineyards which included an important part of Le Montrachet; this collaboration endures. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm

Small refinements continue to be made here. The presses have been changed - a reversion to basket pressing for the reds, and for whites the presses are open - along with a number of other growers they are following the trend to think that slight oxidation of the juice before fermentation is not a problem and may add complexity as well as avoiding later problems of premature oxidation in bottle.

For the reds there has been the introduction of selective whole-bunch fermentation in the Côte de Nuits wines. The house style remains one that 'emphasises the natural elegance of great Burgundies' as they describe it. The domaine is all cultivated with an organic and biodynamic approach.
