Unusually tasted last in the series of Premiers Crus. 'We are tasting this last because as you will see it is extraordinary' announces Loïc as he makes the blend of different barrels. Initially there seems to be little on the nose, but then it comes, and it's not really fruit, but mineral and spice and sous-bois and a complex richness which defies definition. The palate has wonderful balance, there's nearly a touch of sweetness, but then again not - fleeting, evanescent. Big in the mouth and there's limestone and salinity, all very concentrated. So much going on, and the finish is long, but still tight and reserved. Superb concentration. Drinking range: 2035 - 2050 L&S (Oct 2020)

This is not a heavy Gevrey but a very long one and the fruit is stunningly pure. The perfume is accurate and the flavour melodic and there is completeness here which is very alluring. Rating: 18+ Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (Jan 2021)

An elegant, ripe and cool nose offers up notes of black cherry, plum, spice, violet and a hint of lavender. There is a highly refined mouthfeel to the energetic and intense medium weight flavors that possess a silky mid-palate while displaying outstanding depth and length on the markedly firm and well-balanced finale. This is quite simply terrific and definitely recommended though note well that patience will be required. Drinking range: 2036 - Rating: 93-95 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2021)

I was surprised when Loïc Dugat-Py opted to present his 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle after the domaine's Lavaux Saint-Jacques; but when I tasted the wine, I immediately understood his decision. Offering up an incipiently complex bouquet of wild berries, raspberries, blood orange and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, built around velvety tannins and lively acids. Standing out for its completeness, energy and length, this is the finest Petite Chapelle I've ever tasted from the domaine, and I can't wait to revisit it in bottle. Rating: 93 - 95+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

Domaine Dugat-Py

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.
