Mainly the two Tourigas. Oak, some old. Correct but tastes as though it’s making way for more expensive blends. A bit sharp. 14% Drinking range: 2024 - 2028 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Oct 2023)

*Case price discount: Mix any 12 bottles of wine (or 9 litre equivalent) or 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits, Sweet Wine or Fortified (4.5 litres) to get the discounted 'case price' for each bottle.

The 2019 Sino was fermented in stainless steel for around 7 days and then transferred to 2nd year French Oak (225 ltr) barriques for 11 months. It is a blend of Touriga Nacional (40%), Touriga Francesca (30%), Tinto Roriz (20%) and Tinto Cao (10%). Sino is always wonderfully fragrant and supple and the 2019 plays this to the full, with notes of dried roses, violets, pepper and soft red and black fruits. The mouthfeel is sleek and definitely plays up the aromatics and soft easy going fruitiness beautifully. A gentle tannic frame, gives structure and direction and there is a lovely underlying freshness, that draws out the fruit on the finish.L&S (Aug 2023)

Quinta da Romaneira

Whilst an old estate with a consequentially long history, Quinta da Romaneira only really becomes of note when, in 2004, new purchasers of the estate placed it under the management of Christian Seely and Antonio Agrellos who had worked such wonders at Quinta do Noval. Since then the vineyards have been overhauled, the best old vines have been retained in tandem with a replanting programme for the rest of the vineyard. A brand new winery has been constructed, two-thirds of it underground allowing Romaneira to have a proper cool wine cellar in the heart of the Douro valley.

85ha of vineyard, stretching some 3km along the River Douro are planted with both traditional Douro grapes and some plantings of international varieties.

Of course, this being the Douro valley, Quinta da Romaneira produce some very high quality Ports, but the forward focus of the estate is to realise the potential for table wine. In the words of Christian Seely, "our challenge has been, and remains, to find ways to vinify unfortified wines from the Douro that can take their rightful place among the great wines of the world, alongside the other great classic regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy or the Rhone Valley."
