Upfront oak spices with lots of red cherries, red currants and a hint of coffee. Juicy, fresh and chewy on the palate with medium to full body and a good crunch of red fruit. A bit woody now. Needs some time to soften. Rating: 91 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Dec 2023)

Damson and smoked oak on the nose, sweet fruit on the opening beats and this is richer than many you will find in the appellation, with well-worked tannins. A gourmet feel, not quite masking the high acidities that appear on the finish, closing things down. But plenty of appeal, and estate signature. 70% new oak. 32hl/y yield.
