Lovely. Great acidity, super fruit - this is poised and graceful. Good drive too - not a heavyweight - but pretty with a concentrated core. Sometimes this is very much a broader 'Goutte d'Or' inflected release - reflecting the character of this neighbouring vineyard, but in 2022 it remains neat and straight and really energetic. Impressive. L&S (Oct 2023)

(from a .45 ha parcel of 15+ year old vines that abuts Goutte d’Or). Cool and airy aromas of just sliced citrus, acacia, hazelnut and crushed fennel are trimmed in just enough oak influence to merit pointing out. There is again fine volume to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess slightly better verve that carries over to the balanced and nicely dry finale. This could use better depth so a few years of keeping are in order. Worth a look. Drinking range: 2024 - 2027 Rating: 89 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jun 2024)

Mid yellow with a green tint. A little more vegetal on the nose. Fuller and also fresher on the palate, there is additional density, yellow plums and greengages, quite taut despite the abundance of flesh, this will make an excellent and characteristic Meursault. Drinking range: 2028 - 2034 Rating: **** Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy  (Mar 2024)

Cask sample. Lime fruit and a touch herbal with a note of stone dust. Very high acid, just balanced by the fruit so the finish is slightly sweet-sour. Needs time to mesh. (JH) 13% Drinking range: 2027 - 2032 Rating: 16+ Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Feb 2024)

Domaine Rémi Jobard

Rémi has been making small qualitative changes ever since he took over here in 1996. The entire vineyard is cordon-pruned, so yields are naturally limited. There has been no use of fertiliser since 1994, and the vineyard is grassed-over to encourage the vine roots to go deep. The domaine has been certified organic from 2008. He says that the two most important things are the absence of weedkiller (and thus the necessity to plough, which cuts any surface roots and makes the vine go deeper) and not adding any fertiliser which again makes the roots go deeper to find nutrients.

Rémi has two vast presses, to enable him to press very slowly over six hours, and this has resulted in a big jump in finesse. The élevage now lasts nearly fifteen months, so as to allow the wines to develop slowly and to avoid fining. As a result these are wines which take a moment to show, but which reward the patient with complexity and great depth of flavour.

Rémi made a move from traditional barrels to foudres made of a mix of French, Austrian and Slavonian oak, constructed by Austrian cooper Stockinger, and having added a new one (or two) each year, there's barely a normal barrel left. He likes the way the wines develop in these large volumes, in which the 'oaking' effect is minimised.
