WARRE
2024
The 2024 Vintage Port is the next declaration after the back-to-back 2016 and 2017 vintages. It was produced from 38% Touriga Franca, 34% a field blend from old vines (vinhas velhas), 17% Touriga Nacional and 11% Sousão, fermented in lagar with indigenous yeasts and matured in large oak vessels for 18 months. There is a higher percentage of Touriga Franca in Warre's, a wine that has always been more elegant and graceful. I've always had a crush for Warre's, which is more elegant, and I think it's often underestimated. It's sophisticated and structured, has notes of roses and stands out because of its elegance. It has very fine and elegant tannins. It has concentration and structure, but it's quite drinkable and can be enjoyed now or aged. It has 100 grams of sugar and is often the driest of the Symington Vintage Ports. 51,360 bottles produced. Drinking range: 2030 - 2070 Rating: 95-97 Luis Gutierrez, www.robertparker.com (Apr 2026)

The 2025 Warre’s is an especially refined and aromatic expression of the vintage, shaped by cooler vineyard sites and later harvesting that have preserved both freshness and detail. Much of the fruit comes from tightly planted old vineyards, many inaccessible to tractors and still worked with the help of horses. Some of the estate’s 90-year-old vines yielded as little as 300 grams of fruit per vine this year, contributing impressive concentration and complexity. Touriga Franca plays a large part in the blend at 38%, with around a third of that coming from some very old vines. The nose is beautifully layered, combining vibrant floral notes with ripe, energetic berry fruit, alongside touches of chocolate and sweet chewing tobacco. The feel is silky, elegant and wonderfully pure, with the fruit neatly packed in. There is plenty of richness beneath the surface, yet the overall impression remains poised and lifted. A clean, finely textured grip on the finish brings freshness and energy, This is polished, charming and full of beautifully judged detail.L&S (May 2026)
Medium- to full-bodied, leaning toward the fuller end, with notes of violets, blackberries and black pepper. Precise and charming as well as approachable, with a focused structure without excessive amplitude. It shows a vibrant side that makes it very pleasant to taste. A blend of 38% Touriga Franca, 34% Vinha Velha (old, interplanted vines), 17% Touriga Nacional and 11% Sousão from Quinta da Cavadinha, neighbouring Netas and Quinta do Bom Retiro: lovely inky crimson colour; dense, gorgeous but still sullen and withdrawn on the nose. It smells fleshy (i.e. ripe and complete) and it tastes similarly rich and broad with firm, spicy-peppery tannins and a long, linear finish. This is not big but it is supremely elegant and graceful with great purity. 4,280 cases in total. Rating: 18.5 Richard Mayson, www.richardmayson.com (Apr 2026)
