Based in the village of Cuchery in the Marne Valley, Mathieu and Nicolas Moussé are the 12th generation of their family to be vignerons and have taken up the baton with enthusiasm. This cuvée is a classic blend of Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and has a lively fruit and balanced body. L&S (Nov 2022)

Champagne Mathieu-Nicolas

Mathieu and Nicolas, the Moussé brothers, have trained in different aspects of Champagne production, Mathieu in viticulture at Avize, and Nicolas in marketing. Having worked for some other houses, it seemed natural to them that they should return to the family vineyard and try to breathe new life into it. It's early days for now, but already they have begun to grass over the vineyards to improve soil retention and biodiversity, and they are on their way to HVE certification.

The brothers represent the 12th generation of their family involved in viticulture - as they say it may be even more, but the trail runs cold beyond that date. They are based on the right bank of the Marne valley in the village of Cuchery, and have around 5 hectares of vines, in the villages of Cuchery, Cuisles, Jonquery, Fleury la Rivière and Damery.

The Main (Beef or Goose): Serving something richer? We've got you. The Le Pessac-Léognan from Domaine de Chevalier is an elegant, classic claret with notes of blackcurrant, dark cherry, graphite, and cedar.
The Cheese Board: Time to explore. We've included the chalky and... refreshing Finca de Los Locos Rioja from the Artuke brothers and the Sangiovese 'Girapoggio', which has that wonderful Italian 'bite' of savoury freshness.
The Pudding: The grand finale. The Coteaux du Layon 'Les Rouannières' is a stunning sweet Chenin, with notes of crème caramel, and grilled peaches that will sing with the fruit and spice. See? Job done. This is your one-click solution to a perfectly-paired, utterly delicious Christmas.
