The Thibault Liger-Belair Mixed 6: A Tale of Two Lands
When it comes to Burgundy royalty, Thibault Liger-Belair stands comfortably among the elite. His finest Côte de Nuits crus are the stuff of legend, profoundly expressive, impeccably made, and frequently priced north of £500 a bottle.
However, his winemaking genius extends far beyond the borders of the Côte d'Or, and this exclusive 6-bottle mixed case is your invitation to experience his remarkable craftsmanship at a highly accessible price point.
In 2008, Thibault sought out eight prime parcels of vines in the granite-rich soils of Moulin-à-Vent. Treating these southern vineyards with the exact same reverence as his northern plots, he takes the extraordinary step of using two refrigerated trucks a day to deliver the harvested fruit directly to his cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Here, the grapes are fully destemmed and gently pumped over to 'infuse' rather than being aggressively punched down, before being raised in used barriques.This mixed case is a masterclass in terroir, acting as a bridge between the limestone of Burgundy and the pink granite of Beaujolais.
